Featuring Guest Speaker
Sharon Tal, MASKIT, Israel’s iconic House of Fashion

Maskit is a luxury women's ready-to-wear brand founded in 1954 by the extraordinary vision and determination of Mrs. Rut Dayan, widow of Israeli general and politician Moshe Dayan. She founded Maskit as a fashion house that allowed her to create jobs for new immigrants, while preserving Jewish ethnic crafts and culture of the various communities living in Israel. Maskit became the first and only Israeli fashion house, drawing the attention of talented designers and Paris-based fashion houses including Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy, which resulted in several collaborative efforts.

Fast forward 60+ years and the Maskit magic lives on, telling the story of Israel through fashion using textiles, embroideries, incredible craftsmanship and design. At the age of 99, Rut is working with the extremely gifted designer Sharon Tal to reestablish the brand and continue its legacy, infusing rich heritage with modern fashion. An honors graduate of the Shenkar School of Design, Sharon has worked in Paris with Alber Elbaz at Lanvin and was head of embroidery at Alexander McQueen. Through a two-year journey of research and reconnection with Maskit’s original roots, Sharon is focused on delivering top quality and exclusive designs to women around the world.

A Maskit trunk show follows the luncheon.
